AIDAVA Patient Workshop: Strengthening Patient Engagement in Health Data
On 26th February 2025, AIDAVA and the European Heart Network (EHN) hosted a Patient Consultants Workshop in Brussels, bringing together patient advocates, consultants, and project partners to explore the role of health data interoperability in improving patient experiences.
The discussions covered a range of important topics, including how AIDAVA can benefit the wider patient community, the need for tailored approaches to health and digital literacy, and patient perspectives on data quality scores. A key highlight was the session on patient advocacy strategies for engaging policymakers, led by EHN Project Officer Gregorio Sambataro.
Patient consultants also had the opportunity to test the AIDAVA tool, assess the quality of OCR data extraction, and share their thoughts on future trends in data management.
Many highlighted the platform’s potential, with Wendy Davis (EHN Patient Consultant) describing it as “an important tool for managing healthcare data efficiently”, while Krisztina Toth (Patient Advocate, Syreon Research Institute) emphasized that AIDAVA is “the first step in introducing the importance of data to everyday people in their health management.”
The workshop concluded with a discussion on the evolving role of patient consultants in AIDAVA’s final project phase and how they can support outreach and communication efforts. Their contributions continue to shape AIDAVA’s vision, ensuring that patient needs and perspectives remain at the heart of digital health innovation.
A big thank you to all participants and our project partners.
