Industry leaders explore how EHDS compliance can become business value

On 9 June 2026, AIDAVA convened an online industry roundtable under the title "AI powered Scaling of the EHDS: Data driven value generation at affordable cost." The event brought together senior representatives of EHR vendors, digital health companies, pharmaceutical companies and clinical research organisations, moderated by Dipak Kalra, Isabelle de Zegher and Bela Bihari.

Participants broadly welcomed the EHDS as a much needed framework to end the fragmentation of health data in Europe, while pointing to significant readiness gaps: national legislation is not yet aligned with EHDS timelines, and the majority of EHR data remains unstructured. Poor data quality at source was identified as the single most critical bottleneck, prompting a shared call for a paradigm shift towards a "curate once, use many times" approach instead of repeated downstream curation for every secondary use case. AIDAVA's AI powered Personal Health Knowledge Graph was presented as a concrete response to this challenge for already collected data.

The roundtable concluded with three priority actions: developing a sustainable funding model that treats health data infrastructure as a pre competitive asset, launching a pharma pilot to demonstrate faster and cheaper clinical trial execution in the EU, and establishing a governance model for the SULO ontology to ensure interoperability at scale.

The findings will feed into the synthesis of AIDAVA's roundtable series and its upcoming recommendations for EHDS implementation.
