Presentation on the involvement of Patient Consultants in AIDAVA at the European Heart Network Annual Workshop 2023 in Mainz, Germany
On Day 2 of 3 at the European Heart Network (EHN) Annual Workshop 2023 in Mainz, Germany, AIDAVA’s Sarah Jungnickel (EHN cardiovascular patient consultant), and Isabella Cinà (EHN EU Project and Communication Officer) gave a presentation on patient involvement in EU-funded projects, using AIDAVA as a specific example.
Isabella kicked off the presentation by outlining the value and opportunity of involving patients in large-scale research and innovations projects, followed by an overview of the the AIDAVA project. Sarah followed-up by sharing her experiences as a patient consultant in the development of AIDAVA and the types of tasks she has contributed to since the start of the project in Autumn 2022
Sarah was born in Germany with a congenital heart defect (transposition of the great arteries) and, later in life, developed peripartum cardiomyopathy. Now, Sarah works as a tax consultant for an energy company in Germany, and is the proud mother of a 4-year-old girl. EHN was connected to Sarah for this project through the German Heart Foundation, which is an EHN patient representative member and host of this year's EHN Annual Workshop. Other cardiovascular patient consultants participating in AIDAVA, including Caius Mersa, from the Romanian Heart Foundation, and Gil Metlzer, CEO of the Israeli Heart Foundation, attended the meeting. This was a great opportunity to present the project’s patient-centred approach in the development and testing of the AIDAVA system.
We are honoured and proud to have established a fruitful partnership with many dedicated and committed patient consultants who have supported AIDAVA from the beginning and will continue to do so throughout the project's lifecycle.
